Behind the scenes
The negative effect of “beer goggles” was brought to life metaphorically in this spot for Clemenger Melbourne.
Two dimensional footage from real sporting events was initially turned into a fully three dimensional figure in a CG glass using traditional hand keyframing techniques.
However the heavy lifting in the spot was a series of complex fluid simulations that then created three different types of bubbles within the beer glass.
Each individual bubble reacts to the motions of the sportsmen and the general currents swirling within the CG fluid, creating an effect that feels physically real and is mesmerizing to watch.
