Photogrammetry is a technique involving projecting video footage onto buildings and streetscapes and is usually executed in the real world.
Hard enough when you’re talking about one building, but when the script calls for transforming a whole city into a series of wilderness landscapes, the sheer scale of the task demands a more hi-tech solution.
By using a technology called LIDAR to laser scan whole city blocks, Fin was able to project the nature footage onto 3d building models in post, allowing far greater flexibility in camera angles, shot selection and composition.
